TILLIE HIPPO Up Arrow
Tillie/Kathy Character Voice: Kathy Najimy
Singing Voice: Kathy Najimy
Directing Animators: Jill Culton and Kevin Johnson
Quote: "I hear hippos are very, very big on Broadway"
Description: Tillie, the ingenuous soprano hippo, reminds you of someone's big sister (or nanny, or whoever). From the first time we meet her, she's always fussing about other animals' clothes, introductions, and so on. Tillie is kindly at heart, but she lacks any hint of tact.
FRANCES Up Arrow
Frances/Gerson Character Voice: Betty Lou Gerson
Singing Voice: None
Directing Animators: Jill Culton and Kevin Johnson
Quote: "Oh, for the love of Moby Dick"
Description: Frances and Cranston is the most humorous couple I've seen in animation for a while (or ever, for that matter). The puns and sarcastic comments fly fast and furious between this pair of wise-cracking animals when they are offstage. Frances is a source of numerous fish jokes throughout the show. Frances and Cranston share the love of dancing and once they're onstage, their wise-cracks give way to grace and coordination.
CRANSTON GOAT Up Arrow
Cranston/Hal< /A> Character Voice: Hal Holbrook
Singing Voice: None
Directing Animators: Jill Culton and Kevin Johnson
Quote: "Goodbye showbiz, hello farmwork."
Description: Cranston is a cantankerous old codger, sour and embittered by the discrimation faced by the animals in Hollywood. He shares a common passion with Frances for dancing. Cranston's grumpy and sarcastic remarks are deliberately funny, and add much to the humour of this show. For instance, when Danny first tells the animals his five day plan to become famous by Friday, Cranston wryly remarks "Sure, why not Thursday?"
WOOLIE THE ELEPHANT Up Arrow
Woolie/John Character Voice: John Rhys-Davies
Singing Voice: None
Directing Animators: Jill Culton and Kevin Johnson
Quote: "Spotlight will never be on fellows like you and me"
Description: Woolie is a talented composer and musician who came Hollywood in order to write songs for the motion pictures. Sadly, his talent was never used. Instead, he became the mascot for Mammoth pictures. Woolie's main significance in the show is to reveal Sawyer's true aspirations and the reason for the animals' shattered dreams.
